Where In The World Is Allison Francis?

Allison Francis, long-time friend Base Trip Records artist, has been busy writing, singing, and seeing the world. She just got back from a spontaneous trip to Montreal where she spent her time meeting and singing for new people and “soaking up inspiration from strangers, magic, and dreams.” A product of this trip is a 45-second song called “Lemon”, which she posted on the internet just a few days ago.

Another new song that Allison recently wrote and that you can listen to is called “No One Could Find Me.”

Want to hear her music some place other than the internet? Well then make sure you see Allison’s upcoming live performance at the Midway CafĂ© in Jamaica Plains on March 4th. The show starts at 8:30 PM and she is playing alongside some talented acts such as her good friends Erica Russo and Grace Hoffman.

As far as new life experiences go, Allison claims that she is “morphing. Maybe sprouting a tail? Not sure what that means yet.” We’ll be sure to keep you posted.

Love,

Christina Vailas

New Song from Allison for Halloween! Vampire Party

Lyrics:

soggy city, all the sidewalks stained with beer
sparkle with glass to shine and cut the soles of your bare feet
drunken vampires are stumbling from their castles
and howling at the werewolves in the street

i must have been half dead before you found me
to throw your arms around me, and cut the ties that bound me
it must have been a million lives away
to think that we could take it, to hope we could be saved

some will stay, and some will go
their hazy smiles that hurt my throat
bending backwards and it shows, and it shows
i could leave, or i could try
'stead of waiting, wondering why
watchin' space between us growing, and it grows
and it grows and it grows and it grows

light is leaving you, your eyes are sinking in now
the sun is setting underneath your skin
i could keep every dark secret like a memory
but you're too scared to change and let me in

it must have been the darkness of the seasons
the heat inside the summer, the hate inside the reasons
i must have been one thousand winters younger
to think i'd find the answers somewhere new

bats are flying now through every broken window
searchin for a stranger for the night
someone's crying cos their lover left them lonely
and told them that it's gonna be alright

some will stay, and some will go
their hazy smiles that hurt my throat
bending backwards and it shows, and it shows
i could leave, or i could try
'stead of waiting, wondering why
watchin' space between us growing, and it grows

and it grows and it grows and it grows
and it grows and it grows and it grows
we all want to pretend we don't know
but it grows and it grows and it grows

Hope you like it!

New Song + Updates from Allison

Hey friends,

I've been hanging out in Portland writing music and playing shows at venues such as Muddy Waters Coffeehouse and Three Friends, both in Southeast Portland. I've been spending a lot of time with my guitar, Pearl, in the green grass which helps me think, write, and not think. I've got a couple upcoming gigs scheduled:

Saturday, July 25th @ Proper Eats (8638 N. Lombard Ave)
7 p.m. with my friends Erica Russo and Felecia & the Dinosaur
Saturday, August 8th @ Proper Eats (vegan friendly, typical Portland)
7 p.m. with Erica Russo and Felecia and the Dinosaur
Saturday, August 15th @ Twin Paradox Coffeehouse (8609 SE 17th Ave)
8 p.m. with Erica Russo

Stay tuned, there may be more (out of state?) dates to come! If all goes well, Rapper Steph and DJ Supersillyus of Base Trip will roadtrip from L.A. to Portland to rock the Pacific Northwest.

Here's a video of my new song that I recorded today:

Hope you're all well.
Lots of love.

Did you know that Allison Francis destroyed Brooklyn last weekend?

It's true. Jenn Pelly wrote all about Allison's show at Roots Cafe and Perch Cafe, HERE! Check it out yo.

Also, if you have never heard the song "Follow Me Down", you should consider watching this video and paying extra special attention at one minute and twenty three seconds.

Chilly Willy Fo Rilly!

Huzzah! Our good friend Chilly Willy, (he went to senior prom with Allison Francis!) is a bona-fide master of the art of mash-ups and he has offered to let us give away some of his sweet tracks for free to the Base Trip Records family. I have yet to meet a person who hasn't enjoyed this album. He mashed up Joanna Newsom and ODB. That's all I have to say about that. Download the album here!

(This is an epic picture that his little sister Kelly drew of him...it's surprisingly lifelike)

Everybody here at Base Trip Records is obsessed with Chilly Willy and we hope you enjoy this album as much as we do. If you like what you hear, please stop by his myspace and send him some of your love =)

Have a great day!

Rapper Steph Backstage Performance-Knitting Factory

When Base Trip Records ventured down to New York City in October, we stuck a fuggin flag in it. For example, we completely commandeered the VIP room backstage at The Knitting Factory and made it our own personal playground. Rob Uslan (aka SuperSillyus) noodled and riffed his little heart out, Allison Francis led a 90's mashup singalong, and our good friend in New York, John Flor, played us a song about Britney Spears.

Here's what Rapper Steph did. (The beat and the guitar part are completely improvised)

...we were like kites.
